Text Analysis

Text Analysis

This text analysis tool returns all the words used in an inputted text, displayed in a list including the frequency of occurrence for each specific word.

Selecting the drop down ‘Select(f)’ give the number of unique words that have a certain frequency of occurrence in a given text.

The list after the analysis can be sorted by using the frequency or alphabetical check box.

The analyser also returns the total number of words, unique words and number of sentences in the text.

Audio Recorder

Audio Recorder

This audio recorder supports recording from multiple input ports.

If recording from an external microphone or line-in cable, attach these cables first and then search for available recording inputs. This feature is found under the ‘Input’ menu next to ‘File’. The range of audio ports that could be displayed includes stereo mix, internal microphone, external microphone, and line-in. These ports are automatically detected on your computer by the audio recorder program and the required port can be selected. After selection a brief descriptive text will be shown for the selected input.

Other audio settings that can be adjusted are number of channels, sample rate, bit depth, and record volume.

The recorder has a built in audio recording scheduler that can be set to automatically start and stop recording. A valid web address can be inserted into the program to open up this webpage automatically and record the audio stream from that address. Ensure popup blocker on your web browser is disabled for this feature.

When setting a record start/end time, the drop down menus set as
H = 7, M = 25, S = 0 will imply 7:25 AM

The audio file created will be saved to the desktop in WAV format with the name ‘Record’. If a record schedule is set the files saved will be named in sequence as ‘Record(1)’-‘Record(n)’.

If the file size exceeds 150 MB, recordings will be split into files named
‘Record Chapter(1)’-‘Record Chapter(n)’.

If you have files on your desktop matching the same name as the files saved by this recorder it is recommended that these files be stored in a separate directory to prevent those files been overwritten.

If a file has been recorded and is located on the desktop with the name ‘Record’ and is also open in other playback software, the recorder may have trouble saving the file. In that case, close any playback software or rename the file.

We do not store any recorded files from users, this recorder only saves recorded files to the user’s desktop.

scientific calculator

Numbers can easily be expressed using exponents.

The symbol for exponent expression is ‘E’
IE: 2.5E+3 = 2500, 2.5E-3 = 0.0025

Key: [n-number, r-select, d-divisor, b-base]

With Repetition:
Cwr(n,r) = Combinations
Pwr(n,r) = Permutations

Without Repetition:
Cnr(n,r) = Combinations
Pnr(n,r) = Permutations

Mod(n,d) = Modulus [Mod(6.5, 2) = 0.5]
Log(n,b) = Logarithm [Log(8, 2) = 3]
Abs(n) = Absolute [Abs(-4) = |-4| = 4]
Inv(n) = Inversion [Inv(4) = 0.25]
Fac(n) = Factorial [Fac(4) = 24]

‘^’ = Power Exponent [4 ^ 3 = 64]
‘v’ = Root [2 v 9 = 3] [ 3 v 8 = 2]
‘x’ = Multiplication, ‘/’ = Division
‘+’ = Addition, ‘-‘ = Subtraction

‘W’ = Working (shows steps of calculation)
‘D’ = Degrees, ‘R’ = Radians

Loan Calculator

Loan Calculator

This loan calculator tool returns information about loan conditions.

Many people take out a bank or home loan without understanding their required repayments to pay off the loan. Some loan amounts are unable to be paid off as a result of accumulated interest because the repayment amounts are low. Other information about loans that may also be requested includes the total amount outstanding and the number of repayments required.

You can use the calculator to return this type of information by selecting from the options available. A brief descriptive text about the selected option will be displayed above. Fields that are not required for the selected calculation type will be disabled.

After filling the appropriate fields, click ‘Calculate’ to display the loan information.

Note that if the pay frequency is selected to monthly and the loan is for 25 years, the loan term will be 300 months (25 * 12)

Also note that the interest rate per year must be provided as a percentage and only digits and decimals are allowed in each field. Percentage and dollar signs must be excluded and a value is required to be entered for each appropriate field before results are displayed.

Loan Term – The duration of the loan in weeks, months etc.
Interest Rate – The interest rate of the loan (compound interest).
Payment Number – Number of times a payment has been made.
Loan Amount – The total amount of the loan taken out from the bank.
Payment Amount – The payment amount due every week, month etc.
Pay Frequency – How often payments are made (weekly, monthly etc).

GPA Calculator

GPA Calculator

The GPA calculator assists in calculating a GPA for studies undertaken at University or College.

The GPA and weighted aggregate mark (WAM) are returned where the WAM is recorded as an average percentage and the GPA on a scale of either 0 – 7 or 0 – 4. This calculation tool is flexible and supports different letter grades and percentage grades. For each individual course you can assign both the unit value and the weighting factor (third year subjects can have a greater effect on overall GPA).

This GPA/WAM tool should be used only as a guide.
